Synopsis of WASHINGTON POST dot-com column on the forthcoming book and publicity campaign (during 2008):

Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho).

Craig talked at length about his book plans in an interview this week with KTVB in Idaho (watch the whole thing here). The main question, of course, is whether Craig will address the infamous airport bathroom sex-sting incident and the ensuing scandal that forced him to announce he would not run for re-election this year.

"There'll be a bit of what happened in the last year and the way it evolved," Craig said in the interview. "I think that's important for Idaho and those outside Idaho [who] are interested to know."

While he's at it, Craig plans to address "the state of politics in Washington today and across America" and the "dysfunctional and hyperpartisan Senate" he will soon be leaving. (Follow-up questions that weren't asked: If the Senate is so awful, why didn't he resign when the scandal broke and his colleagues were practically begging him to quit? Why stick around for another year?)

As for his future, Craig said, "Retirement for me will probably be not quite retirement. I certainly plan to stay busy." Senate ethics rules prevent him from actively negotiating for jobs while he's still in office, but Craig said "there are some one-way conversations going on" already with potential employers. Perhaps his book — expected to be released around the middle of 2009 — will be such a bestseller he can be a full-time author.

I needed toilet paper & was considering buying Larry’s book. Barbara Walter book seemed to have more paper so I bought it instead

Have you read 180 Days by David Garland?

this is a great book by a new english author. 180 Days (ISBN 1 4208 8153 1). .I really enjoyed it.

It's about a man who has the winning ticket on the lottery worth £9.7m - he is mugged and his wallet containing the ticket is stolen but the ticket is not found. Because of the mugging he ends up in hospital, nobody knows he has/had the winning ticket. The book traces the efforts to retrieve the ticket. A Dutch drug runner, a pro footballer, the man's two sons are all involved plus an odious publicist named Chafford Maxwell. Get it from Amazon.com

'Chafford Maxwell' Thats brilliant! A cross between Robert Maxwell and Max Clifford - God forbid!! both as equally irksome as one an other, 'Chafford' must be a right sleazy git!?

Thanks for the recommendation, I always have a look in the book section of 'Answers' for a good, gritty read. I'm just going to hot-foot it down to WH Smiths. The story sounds intriguing and full of twists and turns, numerous possible conclusions to the mystery, numerous characters plotting against one an other too, I guess?
I'll let you know what I thought of the book at a later date.

What Do You Think Makes A Good Promotion?

my personal opinion is a promotion that has decent wrestlers, a few big name wrestlers, Paul Heyman Booking & women that can actaully wrestler and as well as decent storylines mixed up w/some humours backstage antics now and again

what do you think makes a good promotion?

Big-name veterans, up-and-coming stars, half-decent booking team. If you have all of those elements, you're on your way to a good start.

Come up with in-depth storylines, funny and I mean funny backstage segments, good promos and some kick-butt divas and not s*uts like Kelly Kelly, maria etc.

:)

I know, wouldn't we all like to know :P
First, you have to have contents for two books. the first one has to be informative enough to make you attractive as an author and the second one has to be continuum of the first one plus more in-depth contents. That's about the product.
Now, about selling it. You start selling electronic version of your book through affiliates. you offer them 100% commission. Basically, it means that they get all the money from the sale. The purpose is to get as many people as possible who will advertise your book on your behalf.
If the book is an attractive reading you will have your fans.
Now comes the second book. You see, this time you put a price to compensate you for the both.
Of course, the ultimate importance is to provide quality contents.
Wish you inspiration.

p.s. actually, there was a guy who did exactly this .. i can't recall his name .. but he positioned himself as an expert in what he was writing about and now his sales are really good

Businesses win over customers via email, and this type of marketing approach has been increasing in popularity over the Internet. There are companies that presently operate with thousands of emails simultaneously, and the manual sending of the newsletters with offers and special notifications is actually impossible. Therefore, the use of an email autoresponders software is not a strategy or a whim, but a necessity. Such a tool provides the user to send instant messages to clients with or without personalized features, but there is also the possibility to track the benefits or the profitability of the email campaigns.

An email autoresponders software can personalize the file attachments, the message content, the embed pictures or the subject of the emails. Most softwares are designed to work in perfect compatibility with some of the most commonly used databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, Microsoft Access and Excel. Furthermore, the email autoresponders software serves well for the purpose of bulk marketing allowing one to accomplish tasks like HTML newsletter delivery and mass mailing without any difficulty whatsoever. There is an unsubscribe link included in every email generated by the program, which will allow the recipients to opt out from your listings.

Various advantages result from the applications specific to an email autoresponders software. One of them is the language encoding that you don’t have to know anything about: there should be enough features included in the tool that have a global or international support. Some rather simple email autoresponders software programs have a basic encoding feature or don’t have it at all, which could be pretty confusing and unproductive for the user. It is therefore crucial to check all the good bits and bad bits about the piece of software you want to purchase, because only careful selection leads to smart acquisitions.

One of the best methods to evaluate an email autoresponders software tool is by the way it corresponds or supports the latest email standards. Some tools include a huge number of dialog boxes, allowing for the configuration of e-campaigns with a high degree of success. However, it is probably a good idea to select those items that do not use a too complex language or specific terminology because they may be difficult to work with. Consequently, choose an email autoresponders software that does most of the operations automatically without too much interference on your part. This saves effort and time, and makes work more profitable.

What is the best software to use for publishing newsletter?
I need to buy a software for my own newsletter business. Is MS Publisher enough or I need to buy something else?

Publisher will work. Another option would be Scribus:

http://www.scribus.net/

Quite powerful, easy to use and free to download. I prefer this over Publisher for things like newsletters.

If you need more professional DTP layout options, Adobe InDesign is the way forward. Much more expensive, though. But arguably the best DTP application at the moment.
