I want to start a publishing company that will translate and publish foreign books. How can I get the rights from the publishers in order to publish the books in my country? What are the most frequent terms of such an agreement?
First, you get an attorney versed in publishing and copyright law. If you cannot afford an attorney, you won’t be able to afford running a publishing business. That’s just reality. These contracts are written in legalese, and particularly when dealing with international law you need a professional.
Besides, you would not be negotiating with publishers. You would be negotiating with the authors. Generally, authors retain the copyright to their works, and sell various rights to different publishers. For example, a publisher may have purchased First Time North American Rights to a book, but not South American Rights or World Rights. You would need to contact the copyright holder to discuss these things.

Do most publishing companies only accept work from writers with agents? What are the companies that accept work if you don’t have an agent also?
No. But the ones that do accept "submissions" only from agents.
Most writers send their works, with a proposal done in proper format, to publishers, and when/if an offer is made, that’s when they find an agent to negotiate the contract. (Obviously, it’s much easier to find an agent once you have an offer on the table, and that’s when you need them the most.)
Some agents considered unpublished authors, as well, but you should have some kind of a track records, e.g. having sold a few short stories or articles, and have a complete and POLISHED proposal for them.
Check out that latest edition of WRITER’S MARKET in your library. It’s published every year.

I am looking for something that is recently published because although the fundamentals never change search engines do and web marketing approaches do also.
I would also be grateful to know what good internet marketing e books there are and whether these are of higher quality than normal ‘books’
As far as I know there are recently published ”books” that cover these topics. However there are internet marketing universities online that have all the updated relevant info and techniques within their arsenal which they pass on to their students.
One of the most popular internet marketing universities is Wealthy Affiliate, which has up to date knowledge on email, article, ppc and forum marketing as well as the necessary tools and 24/7 support to allow someone with a work ethic to really succeed.

A fanvid for the 2004 film Book of Love starring Simon Baker. I’ve used a few clips from the film, along with some screen captues and some publicity photos (hope they don’t mind!). This is my first attempt using actual clips! Enjoy! x

also’s Amazing Book Race is a fun-packed day where teams of 4-5 people race around to Ottawa’s downtown literacy checkpoints. At each location, the teams are given literacy-based tasks such as reading a story to a group of people or completing a word search. Once a team has visited all the checkpoints, they return to the starting point to claim their prize and rest with some much-deserved refreshments. There will be a celebrity speaker and fabulous entertainment as well. It is a great day out with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours come and enjoy!

I’ve just finished my first novel and want to get it published, but I don’t know of any publishing companies that would publish someone still in High School.
Authors are made – not born at the first sign of christening and as long as you can write and pull off a manuscript at an early age of what, 6, you can be a published author.
Self-publishing is one venue for authors who wanted to test how their book will fare in the market.
To get into a contract, yes, you must have someone legal to assist you with it. Self-publishing will entail you to make a deposit before going through production and any financial transaction done should be legitimate.
How can you NOT publish? I have known of authors who started as early as 6 to 10- years old.
With parent’s consent, supervision and resources, these children are already raking exposure in the publishing industry as young as they are now.
Best of luck!

Yes, attacking Palin’s children is so puzzling.
They hate Rush. They objected when Rush attacked Chelsea Clinton.
But now they are doing the same as Rush.
When you point that out, they just say "Rush did it, why can’t we?"
If it was so bad when Rush did it, why are they now defending themselves by proclaiming that they are as bad as Rush?
Since when does admitting you’re bad count as a justification?
Liberals attack Palin and her book because they can’t debate the issues. I’ve even seen some more attacking of her daughter on here today. How sad that is the only way they know how to defend policies that are brought forth by their party.

Hello, I want to write a book ( a part is already written) and then I would like to ask my boss ( who is a business man, owning several websites) to finance its publishing. Although I think this book will be successful with a good promotion, I am not so good in finding the right means of partnership with my boss. I could promote his web sites in my book or what are the methods in finding and convincing a sponsorship?
Thank you very much!
Generally, books that are good get published by publishing houses that pay the author to publish them. Where I would start would be to put together a proposal of what publishing the books would cost your boss and what income/advertising benefits he can expect.
Please be aware that if you self-publish the book, you will not get your book in bookstores. You will have to personally market your book. If it is a niche market, interesting to only a limited number of people (say a book on button collecting) you may know all the website/newspapers/clubs where button collectors hang out. But if you are writing a book of general interest, getting it in front of potential buyers when the book is not in any bookstores may be tough.
But the bottom line is that you need to have a clear and accurate picture of what this is going to cost him (including the money he will not collect from selling the advertising space he’s giving to you to someone else), and the benefits.
