Hello, I want to write a book ( a part is already written) and then I would like to ask my boss ( who is a business man, owning several websites) to finance its publishing. Although I think this book will be successful with a good promotion, I am not so good in finding the right means of partnership with my boss. I could promote his web sites in my book or what are the methods in finding and convincing a sponsorship?

Thank you very much!

Generally, books that are good get published by publishing houses that pay the author to publish them. Where I would start would be to put together a proposal of what publishing the books would cost your boss and what income/advertising benefits he can expect.

Please be aware that if you self-publish the book, you will not get your book in bookstores. You will have to personally market your book. If it is a niche market, interesting to only a limited number of people (say a book on button collecting) you may know all the website/newspapers/clubs where button collectors hang out. But if you are writing a book of general interest, getting it in front of potential buyers when the book is not in any bookstores may be tough.

But the bottom line is that you need to have a clear and accurate picture of what this is going to cost him (including the money he will not collect from selling the advertising space he’s giving to you to someone else), and the benefits.
