questions over a government i made in my book i am writing?
i am writing a book and there are three characters who share power over a country, each is in charge of something important in government, one is in charge of the military, one is in charge of the economy, and one is in charge of publicity, what are two more things a government needs? and would you say publicity is as important and the other two?
Good question. One more thing would be civil law, like police functions - keeping the domestic peace, putting murderers away, etc.
I would add judicial system to that, but really, that can be subsumed under police functions, can’t it?
The "economy" takes up most of the rest. I mean, that’s resources, interior, agriculture - all rolled into one topic.
Maybe education and human services (like health care, elderly care, etc.).
And no, publicity is not as important as the other two.

This really depends on the specs of your government. If it’s a completely original government then you can make up some terms based on its need. It also depends on what kind of government it is. Public Relations might be an option. Safety. I can’t help much without knowing what kind of government you’ve created and what kind of novel you’re writing.
