http://personalsuccessmarketing.com/blueprint/the-making-of-the-book/

In this episode, Dr. Marc Kossmann and Charlie Seymour Jr sit back and discuss the process of writing the book they recently finished. This is a behind the scenes look at the formation of PersonalSuccess Marketing and the writing of The Book.

One of the first items in our business plan was to write the book about the system that we created to help service oriented professionals break free from the TimeTrap Plateau. Early in the process, we were clear that we wanted to tell our story in the form of a story. So we created Maximillion’s Tale and Max’s Dilemma which are fictional tales that represent the past and the present.

Maximillion’s Tale, in the form of a story about a medieval blacksmith’s son, tells the journey a professional goes through in the process of “coming of age” and getting established. That story morphs into the present in Max’s Dilemma. Max is our fictional attorney who represents all professionals who follow a business model that has them trading time for money.

Once you hit mid-career, you have run out of hours that you are able or willing to sell. And you have hit the ceiling of what your market will bear in terms of the fee you can realistically charge for your time. You are stuck on the TimeTrap Plateau! Then to make matters even worse, while you were so busy working in the center of your business, that TimeTrap Plateau has become completely surrounded by the Online Jungle. There has been a revolution in the technological platform upon which all businesses must now market themselves.

In our book, we introduce you to the 40/20/40 System which takes professionals through a series of shifts that allow them to Get Out of both the center of their business AND Get Out from the crowd of their professional peers. We then introduce you to the Universe Model of Social Media Marketing. And in the final phase, we show you how to capture and package your knowledge and expertise by making The Shift from professional to “Infopreneur” so that it can be marketed online.

The 40/20/40 System allows professionals to sell knowledge independent of their hourly efforts. This is how you finally break free from the TimeTrap. This is how you really head for The Summit of your career.

Small businesses across the United States face similar challenges when it comes to marketing: the social and media landscapes have been changing for years, and continue to change even faster than before. Part of that change is the quickly disappearing reach of the traditional media such as newspapers, television, shoppers, and radio. Newspaper paid circulation continues to decline nationwide, and the audience share of TV and radio stations follow similar trends.  Yellow-Page-style books are following suit and either going longer periods between publishing due to usage degradation, or closing.

Of course, the leading catalyst of these changes is the advent of the Internet. Most of the traditional media have their own Web sites, and offer only sponsor logos and static banner and tile advertising. This alone falls far short of intercepting the way people are actually using the Web today to make purchasing decisions and interact on a social level with one another, unfortunately. Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are just a couple of the key components in developing a Web strategy that works.

The missing links for the small business owner to reach the increasing number of people who are utilizing digital devices to receive the information they want and need are available through OurNEWSCafe.com. Social media marketing, one of the most important missing links, is one of the small-business-oriented services offered by OurNewsCafe.com.

Where do consumers turn first to find a local business?

According to a recent Nielsen Online survey, 50% of consumers surveyed said they turn to search engines to find a local business, followed by yellow pages directories at 24%, Internet-based yellow pages directories at 10%, local newspapers at 4%, and white pages directories at 3%.

The e survey found that consumers use search engines 72% more than they did two years ago, when a similar survey was conducted. Source: Nielsen Online/WebVisible survey, Feb. 2009

OurNEWSCafe.com is a top online brand management and social media marketing firm. We’ll build you a Web site if you don’t have one. When people are searching for the product or service you offer in your area, it will “organically” rank in the search engines due to the search-engine-optimization analysis that we offer. This creates more opportunities for business owners and service providers to get their messages directly to the people who are looking for them. We’ll geo-target your site so people in your community who are searching for your service find it, not people in China.

Our professional management of the exploding social media marketing platforms of Twitter, Facebook and others allow you to place your messages directly in front of the people who will have the opportunity to act on them. We can help create and manage dynamic, result-getting messages, and our proprietary systems draw followers from your local area to your Twitter account and Facebook page.

As the media landscape continues to change, you will continue to hear the term “hyper local,” which means tailoring media messages to a community or even neighborhood level. This is how you, the local businessperson, will get the most bang for your buck through social media marketing. OurNEWSCafe.com stands ready to help with your social media marketing.

For more information on how OurNEWSCafe.com can work for you anywhere in the United States or Canada, send an e-mail to publisher@ournewscafe.com with “send marketing information” in the subject line. Please include your name, business name, business title, business address, current Web site URL (if you have one), your daytime phone number, and a good time to call. One of our representatives will contact you shortly.
